Hi,

I was wondering if there is any huge difference between debug and release modes, apart from adding a dev~ at the beginning of a preview?

We're looking for a solution to be able to develop the site in some kind of a "staging" area before we send the changes live.

Any idea if it's possible?

Thanks in advance,

Armand

Hi,

Besides css and js file combining and compression i don't think there is any other difference.

Couldn't you just have another copy of the site for testing and when your done just copy over the live site?

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me, guys.

@Hrvoje: Yes, that is what we do now, it's just time-consuming when you have a bigger site live and you need a new function / section to be added.

So the question remains: do you plan to do something similar to this staging area in the future?

Thanks a lot,

Armand

Well, we thought about something similar to unpublished pages in other systems.

While the page/view/etc. is in dev (unpublished) mode, you can see the changes as an admin, but it doesn't go live until you do not want to, so you can't break the live system.
This way you can 'stage' what new functions you want to have, but can stay consistent.

I guess it can be achieved using the view versioning (?)

What do you think?

I think it'd better to deploy two independent instance for staging and productions. Please do not let them in the same kooboo CMS instance.

Yeah, that's what we do now, it's just a bit inconvenient, especially when you have a number of them...

Thanks for the recommendation anyway. We're still hoping though that it'll be possible at some point :)

Cheers,

Armand
