In Kooboo 2 you could localise content. In Kooboo 3 you can localise Layouts, Views, Pages but not Content!

What is going on?

Thanks

The Kooboo 3.0 has changed the localization of Content into content broadcasting because we think it is an easier to understand concept. We will be soon announcing this version.

Thanks Vincent. I love Kooboo because of the content inheritance and localisation capabilities and have recommended to a lot of my friends. I was really disappointed when I saw you could no longer localise content in the latest version.

Yes, good question. That is planned for next week.

Content broadcasting is a very important feature regarding multilingual websites.

Is there some information available in the meantime? Or can you just write a short how-to here?

I think the question is how do we actually use it?

Thanks

Hi, it has been over a month now since versions 3.0.3 was released but there is still no documentation on how to use content broadcasting. A few people have been waiting for some time now for this. Any ideas when when we can get some information on how to use the content broadcasting?

Thanks

Sorry, we are preparing the documents. But for the content broadcasting, it is really easy to setup.

1. Enable the content broadcasting under the content setting.

2. Add the sending setting in the original site to decide which folders can send the content broadcasting.

3. Add the receiving setting in the target site, choice which folders will receive the content broadcasting.

4. Add the content in the original site, if the content is published and the folder is allowed to send broadcasting, it will be sent.

5. At the target folder of the target site, you will see the received content.

6.The received content will be synced by the original content before it was localized.

Hi, Thanks for the information, what I do not understand is where I put the translated content.

I have a 'news' article in my English site and I want this to be translated into German (for example) in my German site. How do I achieve this? Where do I add the German content?

Thanks.

I played around and I think I know how it works.

Basically, the content broadcasting functionality is able to do a one-to-many replication of contents across repositories and folders. You do need different databases with compatible schema definitions.

After setting up the source (sending folder) and the destination(s) (receiving folder), each item added in the source will be copied to the receiving folder(s).

Stuff I haven't tried yet:
  • How categories are replicated, if at all
  • What happens if the schema is different

It seems only to work with different databases, enabling content broadcasting inside one database (but in different folders) doesn't seem to do anything.

@weedweaver,@taukiev

For example, we suppose the English site was the original site, when it add a news, will send the content to the German site. After you received a English news in the German site, you can translate it and localize it.

@avonwyss

Q1,How categories are replicated, if at all?

In the 3.03, we have not replicated the categories. But in the coming version, we have enabled to replicate the categories. The policy is:

1. The category content must be synced and we will keep the content uuid value in different sites.

2. The target sites received a content will query the original category content if exist in its category folders using the category uuid. If the category content exist, will replicate the category.

Q2,What happens if the schema is different?

Will only match the same fields.

Q3,It seems only to work with different databases, enabling content broadcasting inside one database (but in different folders) doesn't seem to do anything.

Yes, it only work in different databases.
